How does it work?
The brain (the body's electrical generator) controls and coordinates all tissue, organs and functions of the human body. It is so vital to our very existence that it is encased in a vault (the skull). The spinal cord is the body's information super highway, is encased and protected by the spinal column. It transmits mental impulses from the brain to all parts of the body; the body responds to this signal and then transmits a response back to the brain.
The spinal column consists of 24 movable bones called vertebra. Between each vertebra, are small openings where the spinal nerves exit the protection of the spinal column. This is where the problems begin. The nerves can become irritated, chaffed, stretched or pinched. This is known as Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC).
The main causes of Vertebral Subluxation Complex are mechanical, chemical, and mental. Mechanical causes are referred to as micro or macro trauma. Micro trauma can also be called repetitive stress injury. Sitting with poor posture at a desk and typing all day can cause problems such as carpal tunnel or neck, upper back, or low back pain. Macro trauma refers to pain due to trauma to the body, such as a fall, a break, or a car crash. Both forms of mechanical causes produce joint dysfunction which can benefit immensely from chiropractic care. Another cause of VSC is due to the chemical effects on the body. Smoking, heavy drinking, and poor diet can create chemical imbalances in the body. Which will affect the nervous system, joint function and the body as a whole. Mental causes such as stress can produce postural imbalances and structural misalignments pulling the vertebra out of alignment irritating the spinal nerve.
Chiropractic doesn't add or take away anything from the body. It helps by removing interference to the nervous system (Master Controller) thus removing postural imbalances and structural misalignments that can accumulate in our bodies over time. Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy. For your body to remain healthy, your nervous system must function well. For your nervous system to function well it must be free of interference. By restoring nerve function with Chiropractic adjustments, nerve interference by misaligned vertebrae is removed, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improved health.
